Summary

Crown reduce willow (T1) by 3m over animal walk/butterfly house for safety reasons.

Full Proposal

ANIMAL WALK / BUTTERFLY HOUSE: ONE Willow (T1)(ht.9m) CROWN REDUCE LATERAL SPREAD by 3m from 8m to 5m on E compass point. Reason: The canopy is showing decline and in poor physiological condition. Given that the canopy overhangs a high-volume path in the animal walk and willow is extremely brittle, especially when under stress, it is considered extremely hazardous. The canopy will be reduced beyond the path to reduce likelihood of failure. Informative A: many thanks for retaining the tree for amenity, wildlife and shade to reduce high temperatures in increasingly hot summers due to the changing climate. Informative B: suggest a tree is planted in or near the enclosure during the coming planting season protected from animal grazing and browsing for future insurance to maintain tree canopy cover in advance of possible future loss of the willow.
